(When its hot outside and it's hot inside too!!)
- Is the thermostat set to the proper position (lower than the room temperature)?
- Have you checked (1) fuses (2) circuit breaker (3)disconnect switch?
- Is the air filter clean?
- Are the supply registers open?
- Are the return air vents unobstructed?
- Is the condensing unit (outside section) running?
1. Fan & compressor?
2. Fan only?
- (If the air being exhausted is not appreciable higher than outside air, shut unit off and call a technician.)
- Is the condenser coil clean? (Check instruction book for cleaning or call a techinician). DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CLEAN THE CONDENSER WITHOUT TURNING OFF THE POWER.
- Is there ice on the pipes at the evaporator coil (inside section)? (If there is, cut off unit and call a technician.)
- Are the condenser coils frozen over (not just light frost)?
- (If so, cut off unit and call a technician.)
- Is the condensing unit unobstructed (overhanging limbs; shrubbery)?
- If you have small children or pets, build an open fence around condenser with a gate for servicing.
- Coils need to be cleaned annually to maintain efficiency.
