Hot Tips

(When its cold outside and its cold inside too!!)

  • Is the thermostat set for heat (set point higher than room temperature)?
  • Is the emergency switch "on"?
  • Is the fuse blown or the circuit breaker tripped?
  • Is the fuel supply "on"?
  • Is the pilot lit (gas) ? Are you out of oil?
  • Is the filter clean? A dirty filter can cause unit to trip out on high limit.
  • Is there a reset button on furnace? If so, reset it.
  • Are the supply registers open?
  • Is the return vent(s) unobstructed?
  • Remove all flammable objects from around your furnace and water heater. Boxes, clothes, paints, aerosols, gasoline should not be stored in this area.
  • If the furnace and water heater are in an enclosed room or closet, be sure there is plenty of air for combustion. We hope these tips will be helpful and save you money by avoiding unnecessary service calls.
